The Coalition embraces the need for more workforce housing ….including affordable housing, market-rate housing and mixed-income housing. By working regionally across jurisdictions and in partnership, the Coalition seeks to ensure adequate housing opportunities are available in our area villages and towns."        To implement this vision the Coalition has formed itself into several Action Groups to increase the supply of workforce housing….the Steering Committee, Community Outreach, Financial Support and Land Use and Zoning. It includes affordable housing, market-rate housing, and mixed-income housing for retirees, teachers, retail and service sector employees, firefighters, policemen, secretaries, and nurses among others, all essential community employees. The types of housing include starter homes, townhouse, condominiums, apartments and co-housing.        A typical low-income household earning $36,000 per year could afford a two-bedroom apartment renting for  $1,000 a month including utilities, or purchasing a housing unit of $150,000 maximum, requiring payments of $1,000 per month, which is the acceptable 1/3 of income.
